So you removed the carrier, replaced the crank seal and engine block gasket, and reused the pan seal? Maybe an idea that will work using some sort of sealant. I did a poor job of installing a new pan seal. A very difficult job! I did save my old compressed pan seal; and the thought of reusing it has crossed my mind. People do it successfully (installing a new rear oil pan seal) so I'm skeptical of gluing in the old one. In any case my car is loosing so much oil out this area it has become unusable.
